The Washington Post recently reported on a U.S. casino whose network was compromise because hackers were able to gain access through an internet-connected fish tank (yes, you read that correctly).  While we’ve known for a while that the Internet of Things will introduce new security risks, its stories like these that reenforce the importance of detecting and managing these risks within your IT environment.  Very few specifics of the attack have been released, but I’m guessing that the IT organization at this casino could have taken a few actions to prevent this breach (i.e. monitoring for unknown devices connecting to the network, segmenting the devices into a separate subnet, and investigating to ensure adequate security was applied).
