Description:

The Phoenix Project: A Novel about IT, DevOps, and Helping Your Business Win by Gene Kim, Kevin Behr, and George Spafford is unlike most books about business and IT.  Written in a narrative format, you follow the Parts Unlimited IT staff through their efforts to transform their underperforming IT organization into a team that is able to effectively and efficiently meet their business’ needs.  Read a full synopsis here: http://itrevolution.com/books/phoenix-project-devops-book/

What I Took from the Book:

I really enjoyed this book (well, audiobook…  I listened through Audible).  The narrative format really kept me engaged and challenged me to think about how I would have approached the Parts Unlimited company’s problems.  This is a great book for IT Leaders and staff who are struggling to get out of the firefighting doomloop as well as consultants and auditors who need to understand how our recommendations have a cascading impact across the organization.

Long story short, I plan on giving my mentees a copy of this book and recommending it to my clients.
