I’ve been a fan of WNYC’s RadioLab podcast for a while now and find their shows very insightful and interesting.  Their latest podcast (simply called Darkode) explores the word of hacking from the perspective of the hacked (a victim of ransomware) and the hacker (the founder of the “eBay for cybercrime” site Darkode).  While the discussion is relatively basic from a security perspective, it provides a lot of insight of what it is like to be involved in the hacking community and the victim just trying to restore their digital world to normalcy.

Here is the description from their show notes:

It would seem that hackers today can do just about anything they want – from turning on the cellphone in your pocket to holding your life’s work hostage. Cyber criminals today have more sophisticated tools, have learned to work collaboratively around the world and have found innovative ways to remain deep undercover in the internet’s shadows. This episode, we shine a light into those shadows to see the world from the perspectives of both cybercrime victims and perpetrators.
